Exciting Times in Bowling Green as Lady Toppers Gear Up for Basketball Season
Bowling Green, Kentucky, is buzzing with excitement as the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers prepare for the upcoming basketball season. With a clear sky overhead and temperatures dipping to a cool 47°F, it’s the perfect weather for a little outdoor celebration before the action heats up inside the E.A. Diddle Arena.
Alexis Mead Shines Bright
This season, all eyes will be on senior guard Alexis Mead. Just recently announced, she has been named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team, which was voted on by the league’s coaches. It’s an honor that’s well-deserved as Mead has consistently proven herself on the court. Last season, she was a standout player, leading the league in steals while securing the third-most assists. Her defensive prowess earned her a spot on the CUSA All-Defensive Team, alongside selections for the Second Team.
For basketball aficionados, it’s clear that Mead’s impact on the game is substantial. She hails from Moreno Valley, California, and had a stellar average of 12.3 points per game during CUSA play last season, making her the team’s leading scorer in conference matchups. Not only does she excel offensively, but she also led her team in steals, assists, three-pointers made, and three-point shooting percentage.
What Lies Ahead for the Lady Toppers?
The Lady Toppers have high hopes for the upcoming season, as they have been picked to finish fourth in the Conference USA coaches’ poll. The excitement doesn’t stop there! Mark your calendars, as this game will not only showcase the team’s talents but will be complemented by the second annual Top’r Treat event, offering trick-or-treating for families. The game starts at 6 p.m., but fans and families can arrive early at 5 p.m. to join in the fun!
