Bowling Green, Ky. – It’s that time of year again when schools reflect on their progress, and this year, the Kentucky Department of Education has some fantastic news to share about Warren County Public Schools (WCPS). After evaluating the performance of students through the annual School Report Card, the numbers show a bright future for students in the district.
Each spring, students across Kentucky take part in assessments that are required by the United States Education Department. This year, the data collected during these assessments from spring 2024 has brought forward encouraging results. The release from WCPS indicates a notable boost in subgroup performance, which helped many schools in the district achieve their assessment goals.
One of the standout statistics from this year’s report is the graduation rate. WCPS has proudly announced that the graduation rate has climbed to an impressive 96.9% for the 2023-24 school year, up from 95.4% in the previous year. That’s quite an achievement!
Alongside this, the percentage of WCPS high school students graduating postsecondary ready has also seen a significant uptick to 89.2%. This is a clear indication that students are not just finishing high school but are also preparing themselves well for the next steps, whether that’s higher education, vocational training, or jumping right into the workforce.
Rob Clayton, the superintendent of Warren County Public Schools, shared his thoughts on the results, stating, “As we review this year’s state assessment results, I am incredibly proud of the progress our students and educators continue to demonstrate.” His pride is evident as he emphasizes that these figures reflect the tremendous dedication and hard work of both students and staff.
Clayton further explained that these numbers are more than just statistics. He stressed that they symbolize a “commitment to continuous improvement and expanded opportunities” for all students and that there’s a steadfast focus on equipping every student with the necessary skills and knowledge they need to succeed beyond their K-12 experience.
The Kentucky Department of Education plans to release a more detailed breakdown of the 2023-24 assessment and accountability data throughout the fall. This will be done in a phased approach, giving everyone a chance to digest the information gradually.
To make this data accessible, it will be available through a platform called Open House before the launch of a new School Report Card dashboard later this year. The current SRC dashboard will be retired and replaced with this new format, which promises to provide fresh insights and updates.
If you have any questions about the district’s assessment data, WCPS encourages you to reach out to their Central Office at 270-781-5150. The staff are ready to assist you with any inquiries you might have and guide you through the details.
In conclusion, it’s a time of celebration for Warren County Public Schools and the entire Bowling Green community. With graduation rates climbing and students gearing up for success after high school, the future looks incredibly bright for students in the area!
