Following a recent shooting incident that sparked significant concern in the local community, authorities confirmed that 36-year-old Jessie Ray Curtis has been captured in Tennessee. It is noteworthy that Curtis, who played an active part in the violence, suffered a gunshot wound to his back during an exchange of gunfire on Monday morning in Ella Way.
Besides the incident on Monday, Curtis had also been sought on charges of first-degree burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. These warrants had been served before the Ella Way incident, thus escalating the significance of his capture.
In the early morning of April 22, the local law enforcement received a distressed call of a crash on Murphy Road. The caller hinted that one of the vehicles involved was attempting to depart the scene. While the officers were en route, another call reporting a shooting at Ella Way came in. As individuals fled from the chaos and gunfight, a subsequent bout of gunfire trailed them down Murphy Road.
According to eyewitness accounts, several people scrambled across fields in assorted directions. There were also sightings of a black Enclave exiting the scene towards Highway 240. A search ensued, leading to the arrest of Joshua Culbreath, who besides having outstanding warrants stood charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Later, the black Enclave was found deserted in a barn located on Vance Lane. Authorities secured search warrants for the house on Ella Way and the related vehicles. Consecutively, the resident of Ella Way, Jess Fitzgerald, was put into custody due to unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and culpability in trafficking marijuana.
Law enforcement and local community members hold their breath as incidents in this tangled web of criminal activities are still unfolding. The quick response and thorough investigation by the law enforcement authorities have proved crucial in maintaining the semblance of peace in the community as people anxiously await the progression of the case.
