Bowling Green’s Kinney Notches Two Hits Despite Bolidos’ 5-2 Loss Against Asheville Tourists

Bowling Green, Kentucky

In Saturday’s match against the Asheville Tourists at the Bowling Green Ballpark, Cooper Kinney stood out for the Bolidos de Bowling Green by bagging his 16th multi-hit game. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t make the most out of this advantage and suffered a 5-2 defeat.

Match Highlights

Setting the match into motion, Tre’ Morgan from Bolidos managed to steal the second base, thus paving the way for a scoring opportunity. Augmented by a single from Kinney, Morgan was then sent home on Colton Ledbetter’s RBI sacrifice fly, giving the Bolidos an early lead at 1-0.

The Bolidos increased their lead in the bottom of the second inning. Triggered by a walk by Tatem Levins, Hunter Haas’ hit by a pitch, and a catcher’s interference that allowed Morgan to reach, the bases got loaded. Consequently, Xavier Isaac’s walk enabled Levins to score, pushing their lead to 2-0.

However, in the top of the third inning, Asheville rebounded against Bolidos’ starter Owen Wild. A hit by pitch on Jackson Loftin and a Logan Cerny two-run home run to left field tied the score at 2-2. The Tourists furthered their lead when Luis Baez smashed a solo home run to 3-2.

Shift in the Game

With the game momentum swinging in their favor, Asheville nailed an extra insurance run against Bolidos reliever Jonny Cuevas in the 8th inning. Cerny’s walk and stealing of third base enabled his home crossing through a ground out by Austin Deming. Further runs from John Garcia and Ryan Johnson stretched Tourists’ lead to 5-2.

Unable to fight back offensively, Bolidos de Bowling Green had to face defeat at 5-2 despite Kinney’s shining performance.
