Christian Family Radio Hosts 2nd Annual March of Remembrance in Bowling Green

Flags embellished with the vibrant Star of David were held aloft at the second annual March of Remembrance in Bowling Green on Monday. The notable community radio station, Christian Family Radio (CFR) showcased this event to express their solidarity with the Jewish community against the growing antisemitism in the world.

Marching for Peace, Love, and Unity

Citizens gathered at the NewLife Church where a congregational leader recounted his family’s experience during the Holocaust. After absorbing the haunting tales of survival and despair, the congregation embarked on the march outside the church at 5:30PM. Participants displayed their messages of support through flags, signs, and even clothing.

The protestors journeyed up and down Scottsville Road three times, a deeply symbolic gesture reflecting the staggering loss of the six million lives in the Holocaust. As cars zoomed by the roadside, they resonated back the protestors’ fervor through a harmony of car honks.

The Message of the March of Remembrance

Emphasising the importance of the rally, Jordan Upton, the March of Remembrance’s event coordinator, stated “Antisemitism didn’t end with the Holocaust. It is unfortunate to see it persisting even today, possibly at its worst. Standing firm with the Jewish community against unreasonable anger and hatred is vital”.

Youth and Senior Citizens United

The March brought together people from all walks of life, young and old, united under a single cause – to eradicate the lingering spirit of hatred. Upton further shared his hopes for the future saying, “We hope that there is no need for a march next year. We hope that by next year, world peace will have come. May the Messiah come and bring world peace and eradicate antisemitism”.

The March typically includes a candlelight vigil and prayers for peace, but due to unfavorable weather conditions, these segments were omitted this year.

An Effort Towards Understanding and Peace

This event served as a reminder of the constant struggle against hatred and the ongoing necessity for remembrance and standing up against bigotry. It reflected the community’s strong fight against antisemitism and their constant endeavors to spread messages of love, peace, and unity.
