BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Annual Golf Classic Raises Funds for Charitable Care
This morning, the golf community in Bowling Green came together at the Club at Olde Stone for the 3rd annual Jim Johnson Charity Golf Classic. The event aims to raise funds for the Masonic Homes of Kentucky’s Charitable Care Program. Adam Jones, the General Sales Manager for Jim Johnson Nissan-Hyundai, expressed his excitement about hosting the tournament once again. “This is the third year that we’ve hosted this tournament. We’re glad to do it,” he said.
A Historic Organization
The Masonic Homes of Kentucky has a long-standing history, having been in operation for 157 years. Originally, the organization provided support mainly for widows and orphans. However, as time evolved, their focus shifted, and they now cater primarily to senior living residents. J Scott Judy, the CEO of Masonic Homes of Kentucky, explained, “The money raised here today will go to our charitable care program which helps people who are indigent and don’t have any assets to be able to pay for their care.”
Support for the Vulnerable
The organization, headquartered in Louisville, provides various services for children and the elderly. It has a unique campus that features a pediatric extended care facility. This facility serves both typical children and those with special health care needs, making it the only one of its kind in the state.
Today’s golf tournament saw participation from more than 13 teams of four players, all hoping to raise an impressive $40,000 for Masonic Homes of Kentucky. This vital funding will assist in providing affordable housing, daily medical necessities, transportation to appointments, and other essential services for those in need.
A Community Effort
The popularity of the Jim Johnson Classic continues to grow, with many from out of state traveling to participate. Some golfers even traveled from as far as Minnesota. Nathan Hincks, the Assistant Golf Professional at the Club at Olde Stone, noted how the community has embraced the annual event. “It’s a privilege to be able to host this kind of event to have people come out and enjoy the golf course and to get to experience it here at Olde Stone,” he said.
Looking to the Future
Adam Jones shared his thoughts on the importance of investing in the next generation. “It’s very important to us not only to raise the next generation the best we can but also to have the best facilities, the best roadways, just the best in general to offer our local community,” he emphasized.
