A public drop-in meeting is scheduled for January 23 at Natcher Elementary to discuss the details. Meanwhile, concerns about driver safety have emerged after a recent DUI incident on the same road. On a positive note, Operation Christmas Child will be collecting shoebox donations on Cave Mill Road this holiday season, showcasing the community’s spirit of giving.

When deputies arrived, they found Gonzalez next to his damaged vehicle and some broken fencing. He claimed that he had “slipped” while driving and later admitted to being under the influence of alcohol. Reports indicate he had enjoyed three or four Modelos before getting behind the wheel. A strong smell of alcohol was evident, leading officers to investigate further.
A search of the vehicle revealed an open Modelo beer lurking just beneath the driver’s seat, along with the troubling fact that no ignition interlock device was present, despite Gonzalez being permanently suspended from using one. He now faces serious charges including driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a vehicle on a DUI suspended license, and having an open alcoholic beverage container in his car.
After being assessed at The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance, Gonzalez was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail. Local authorities are reminding residents to drive responsibly, particularly as traffic improves with the upcoming changes.
The goal this year is to collect 4,000 shoeboxes, a modest target compared to last year’s whopping 8,000 due to fewer central locations. But every contribution counts, and there are plenty of other local drop-off sites, including several local churches like Southside Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Franklin. Be sure to check their specific hours if you’re planning to drop off a box!
As Bowling Green gears up for these changes and opportunities, it’s clear that the community is coming together in both improving infrastructure and spreading cheer to those in need.
