Fatal Car Accident Unfolds on Louisville Road

Last Thursday night bore witness to a devastating fatal accident on Louisville Road, leading to a flurry of law enforcement activity to investigate the circumstances. The tragic incident happened around 9:00 pm and involved a single vehicle that left the roadway and overturned.

A woman, identified as 38-year-old Melissa Sargent of Charleston, SC, was driving her white 2017 Lexus down the southbound lane. Unexpectedly and for reasons still under investigation, her car crossed the northbound lane, left the road, and overturned in a horrific scene. Regrettably, Sargent was thrown out of the vehicle during the disturbing event and lost her life at the scene. The exact cause of this accident is still unknown and the subject of ongoing inquiries.

The local Edmonson County Coroner’s Office arrived onsite and confirmed Sargent’s tragic passing. Trooper Key is being supported by other KSP personnel and the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office in a joint effort to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
