The highly anticipated second Kentucky outpost of Buc-ee’s, the popular Texas-based gas station and convenience store chain, is slated to open its doors in the summer of 2024. Known for its delicious homemade brisket, sparkling-clean bathrooms, and amicable beaver mascot, Buc-ee’s has chosen the quaint town of Smith’s Grove, just 15 miles outside of Bowling Green, Kentucky, for its latest location.
The new store, which is impossible to miss whilst journeying on Interstate 65 towards Nashville, will replicate the magic of Buc-ee’s successful Richmond, Kentucky, store that has been operational since 2022. Following this addition, road trippers in the Bluegrass State will have another pit stop to look forward to on their adventures.
While an exact opening date is yet to be determined, the Smith’s Grove Buc-ee’s will commence operations sometime during summer 2024, stated a reliable Buc-ee’s spokesperson via email. Signs posting “Opening Soon” outside the new location have already started stirring excitement among the local residents.
Ever since construction kicked off in June 2023, the new gas station and convenience store has promised to be an impressive setup. Upon completion, this Smith’s Grove Buc-ee’s outlet will occupy a sprawling 53,471 square feet, according to a recent press release by the brand. The fully prepared site will also house 120 fueling stations. By comparison, the Richmond Buc-ee’s store is of similar size, while the largest Buc-ee’s store in the United States, located in Sevierville, Tennessee, covers an area of 74,500 square feet.
Catering to the convenience of its patrons, all Buc-ee’s locations, including the upcoming Smith’s Grove site, operate 24 hours a day, stated the official Buc-ee’s website.
In line with the brand’s vision of expansion, Buc-ee’s also plans to venture into the Dayton, Ohio, suburb of Huber Heights. Proposed to start construction soon, it is hoped to be operational by Winter 2025. This will mark Buc-ee’s entry into Ohio. Additionally, Buc-ee’s has announced plans for more upcoming locations in Amarillo, Texas, and Brunswick, Georgia in 2025, and Rockingham County, Virginia, and Boerne, Texas in 2026.
