The Big Brownsville Bash Gears Up for Artistic Showcase
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – The Edmonson County Art Guild is calling on residents to submit their works for an exhibition during the upcoming Big Brownsville Bash. The event is set to run from May 30 through June 1, in downtown Brownsville.
Community Talent in Spotlight
This year will mark the third installment of the annual Big Brownsville Bash, a three-day celebration designed to emphasize the uniqueness of both Brownsville and Edmonson County. One of the event’s highlights is an art exhibition organized by the Edmonson County Art Guild, now to be held for the second time.
Art Guild President Phyllis Miller explains how they are looking forward to displaying a range of home-grown talent and creative expertise from within the community. “So it’s incredible to witness how much talent we have in the county, we’re hoping this year to expand the participation from our craftspeople. They’d love to see examples of craft like basket making, and we have one participant planning to submit a hand-built chair,” Miller said.
Submissions Open to All
The Art Guild encourages all residents from Edmonson County to submit their creations, regardless of their artistic skill level. “Anyone in the community that has something they want to exhibit, we would love to showcase it and give everyone the chance to demonstrate their talent and what they’re capable of,” encourages Miller.
Exhibition and Murals to Highlight Local Flavor
Art Guild President Miller and treasurer Lydia Nungent have been working on murals that embody the spirit of Edmonson County, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere of the Bash and drawing visitors to the exhibition. “It’s just a photo op for the kids, larger than life. Just some things that signify the cave and Nolin and Green River. We’re just promoting some of the things that make our community special. We have many tourist attractions, and we want people to be aware of what we have,” said Miller.
Submissions for the art exhibition can be presented at the Heritage Center in Brownsville, located at 503 Washington Street.

Both Miller and Nungent expressed heartfelt gratitude for the significant support the Art Guild and the event receive from the community and supporting organizations.
