Change of Scene: from Broadway to Bowling Green, Diane DiCroce Takes Charge of Ramsey Theatre Company

Big news for theater lovers in Bowling Green, Kentucky folks – we are getting a sprinkle of Broadway! Diane DiCroce, a seasoned actress and more recently, a director, has traded the hustle and bustle of New York and Broadway to run the show at Ramsey Theatre Company.

DiCroce, whose career resume includes 30 years of acting in famous productions like “My Fair Lady,” “Les Miserables,” has been a big part of the New York and Broadway theater scene for years. So, it kinda makes you wonder, why would she choose to move to a smaller place like Bowling Green? Well, when we spoke to her, she had a simple answer – “the city is just so nice.”

But that’s not all. Diane told us that the people she has met in Bowling Green have all been kind and genuine, making the move even more appealing. She’s not just an actress but also an educator in many ways, and this switch pretty much brings together everything that she has done in her life so far. In her own words, “that’s pretty cool.”

Diane was brought in as a consultant for the Ramsey Theatre Company’s production of Cinderella. It was apparent that the theatre board members were impressed with her work, as they offered her a full-time gig to work for the theater. Little did they know, they were setting the stage for Diane to paint a fresh picture for the company, the community, and beyond.

The new director has big plans for the Ramsey Theatre Company. She wants to take it up a notch, not just in the community but also in the region, and even at the national level. But she’s not just about the grand plans; she is also about nurturing the young talents in the theater.

Imagine the excitement of three recent Western Kentucky University graduates who are now working full time at the theater, thanks to Diane. Lea Schenk, one of the graduates, is already excited for the incoming season.

Lea also shares Diane’s vision. They both believe in getting more people involved in theater. In Lea’s words, it’s all about the “light that is so rare in peoples’ eyes.” This, she says, is the joy of watching people shine on stage.

So it looks like the coming months are full of excitement and change at the Ramsey Theatre Company. With the addition of Diane DiCroce, a new wave of energy, knowledge, and freshness is guaranteed. This is surely the dawn of a new era for theatre in Bowling Green, so fasten your seat belts, people; it’s going to be a wild, theatrical ride!
