Bowling Green is mourning the loss of a beloved community member, Brenda Lowe, who peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. At the age of 83, Brenda leaves behind a legacy filled with warmth, love, and cherished memories that will live on through her children and grandchildren.

A Native of Barren County

Brenda was born in Barren County to the late Carvin and Bonnie Spradling Smith. Known for her kind spirit, Brenda spent her life making a positive impact on everyone she met. She found great joy in family gatherings and was often the heart of family traditions. As a devoted wife and mother, she dedicated her life to nurturing her loved ones.

Throughout her life, Brenda faced challenges with grace. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Lowe, and her brother, Glen Smith. Despite the heartaches, Brenda remained a pillar of strength and support for her family.

A Lifelong Career and Community Involvement

Brenda had a fulfilling career, retiring from R R Donnelly after many years of dedicated service. Her contributions to the workplace were greatly appreciated, as many came to admire her work ethic and friendly demeanor. In addition to her career, Brenda was an active member of Shiloh General Baptist Church, where she was deeply involved in her community, always eager to lend a helping hand.

Family: Her Greatest Joy

Brenda leaves behind three loving children: Bonnie Robbins, Tanya Pulley (who was happily married to Ron), and John Russell Lowe. She was incredibly proud of her family and took immense joy in their accomplishments. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren:

  • Nicole Jessie (married to Bobby)
  • Blake Priddy
  • Nathan Windom
  • Terry Windom (married to Kim)
  • Sherry Haynes (married to Patrick)
  • Samantha Vincent (married to Austin)
  • Allison Whitlow (married to Matthew)

Brenda was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, bringing her family circle even wider. The bond she shared with her loved ones is irreplaceable and highlights the importance of family in her life.

Survived by Family and Friends

Brenda is survived by her sister, Sharlie Hoehn (married to Bruce), and two sisters-in-law, Sharon Martin and Nelda Lowe, alongside a brother-in-law, Joe D. Lowe. Countless nieces and nephews also cherish her memory and will remember her laughter and love.

Final Farewell

A funeral service in Brenda’s honor is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the same day. After the service, Brenda will be laid to rest at the Smiths Grove Cemetery, where her family can visit and reflect upon the beautiful life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, located at 6100 Dutchmans Ln Ste 401, Louisville, KY 40205, to support the fight against this challenging disease that affects so many.

As the community comes together to remember Brenda Lowe, her loving spirit and enduring legacy will undoubtedly continue to resonate with all who knew her.
