The Hilltoppers certainly brought their A-game, winning their match in a sweeping fashion with scores of 25-20, 25-10, and 25-19. She recorded an impressive 39 kills over the weekend, leading her team with a hitting percentage of .258. Her average of 4.33 kills per set was certainly a force to be reckoned with.
Meanwhile, Alivia Skidmore, a freshman pin hitter, continued her promising debut season. She contributed 27 kills during the matches, maintaining a hitting clip of .277 and averaging three kills per set. Skidmore’s performance wasn’t just about kills; she also showed her versatility with a service ace, a block, and six digs. Both athletes earned recognition for their efforts, with Cox being named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Skidmore took home the title of Freshman of the Week.
The success against the Bulldogs followed a thrilling victory over UTEP, where WKU defeated the only other undefeated team in the conference in two nail-biting matches, 3-1 and 3-2. These wins catapulted the Hilltoppers to the top of the conference standings, and with three more C-USA series on the horizon, they are looking to maintain their momentum.
The Hilltoppers are set to return to action this weekend, hosting New Mexico State for a pair of matches. The excitement is palpable as fans prepare for the first serve, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday at the E. A. Diddle Arena. It promises to be another thrilling weekend filled with high-paced action and, of course, plenty of support from Hilltopper fans.
