Tylan Barnett, 22, faces murder charges while his sister, Taylor Barnett, is indicted for tampering with evidence. As the case unfolds, the family of Jamarco seeks justice amidst growing concerns over safety in the area.
Bowling Green has found itself in the throes of heartbreak as community members grapple with the recent indictments following the tragic death of 16-year-old Jamarco Dye. On March 26, 2025, a grand jury unexpectedly handed down serious charges against local resident Tylan Jermane Barnett and his sister, Taylor D’Aisa Barnett. This incident has sent ripples of shock throughout the neighborhood, highlighting the urgent need for discussions around youth safety and community violence.
Things took a tragic turn on January 26, 2025, when Tylan Barnett, 22, allegedly fatally shot Jamarco Dye in what police reports portray as a horrifying confrontation. It all began when Taylor Barnett, 27, called her brother shortly after midnight, informing him about a supposed attempted burglary at her apartment on Audley Avenue. After hearing from his sister, Tylan rushed over to her place, only to see two figures approaching from the back.
In the early hours of the morning, Tylan allegedly fired multiple shots at Jamarco Dye from around 20 yards away, ultimately leading to a devastating loss for the community. Jamarco’s body was later discovered behind an apartment building in a nearby grassy area, leaving friends, family, and neighbors in disbelief.
Tylan Barnett now faces some serious legal repercussions, including charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence. He is currently held in the Warren County Regional Jail under a hefty cash bond set at $1 million. Not to be overlooked, his sister Taylor has also been indicted for her role in tampering with evidence related to the incident. The nature of her actions remains vague, but the indictment suggests she may have attempted to hide or alter evidence after the shooting had taken place.
According to police reports, after the shocking moment of the shooting, Tylan is said to have discarded the gun into nearby brush before returning to take a shower. In a further twist, investigators found an open bottle of bleach near the location of the shower, raising questions about what might have transpired in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
The police also recovered 15 shell casings alongside the firearm, painting a grim picture of the events that unfolded that night. Eyewitness accounts have revealed even more details, with reports indicating that Jamarco was just a teenager out with friends, heading to a convenience store when the tragedy struck.
The Bowling Green community is now left to process this devastating event. Parents and youth alike are worried about safety and the ongoing concerns surrounding violence. As the investigation continues, everyone is left wondering: what steps can be taken to ensure this doesn’t happen again?
The family of Jamarco Dye is undoubtedly struggling with the emotional fallout of this loss, calling into question many aspects of the incident that led to such a tragic outcome. Vows for change permeate the conversations amongst neighbors as they seek justice for Jamarco and support for all affected by this incident.
Tylan Barnett’s arraignment has been scheduled for April 7, 2025, and he remains in custody without bail. Taylor Barnett, on the other hand, is currently subject to a cash bond set at $5,000. As the community watches this case unfold, there are hopes for a thorough investigation and a commitment to addressing the issues surrounding youth violence.
This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of addressing conflicts constructively. As Bowling Green grapples with the aftermath, let’s strive to foster understanding and support amongst one another, building a safer future for each and every resident.
