In a shocking turn of events over the weekend, 26-year-old Bowling Green resident, Antwan Gilbert, is currently facing multiple charges related to a robbery and an act of strangulation. The charges were filed after a series of incidents that unfolded on Saturday, June 23.
Authorities were alerted to a delayed burglary on Hickory Street’s 2200 block on the aforementioned date. The alarm was raised by the victim who returned home to discover the terrible state of her living space. As the report states, there was trash spread all across the living room, an enactment of pure chaos, coupled with the sight of her clothes doused with bleach.
Upon encountering this scene of disarray, the victim later stated to the police that she saw Gilbert leaving the property in a vehicle. This statement was given subsequent to the alleged robbery.
Unfortunately, the incident did not end there. As if the robbery wasn’t distressing enough, the victim informed the police that Gilbert returned to the property at a later time. During this encounter, he purportedly strangled her and made away with her phone.
Police officers, alerted to the report, attempted to locate Gilbert on the night of the incidents but were unsuccessful. However, their search ended the following day when Gilbert turned himself in.
Upon surrendering to the authorities, Gilbert was taken to the Warren County Detention Center, where he remains to the time of this article. The arrest culminated in a slew of charges being filed against him. These charges include first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, first-degree strangulation, theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others between $500 and $1,000, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), and third-degree criminal mischief.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Bowling Green community, with many expressing concern over the violent nature of the crime.
The investigation into the robbery and the subsequent events remain open as authorities endeavor to unearth more information about the shocking incident.
