Bowling Green Mourns Loss of Beloved Resident: Remembering Juanita E. Strange

Bowling Green Loses a Beloved Figure: Remembering Juanita E. Strange

It’s a somber day in the charming city of Bowling Green as the community mourns the passing of a beloved local resident, Juanita E. Strange, who departed this world on November 29, 2024, at the age of 91. Juanita was no stranger to the townsfolk, having roots deeply embedded in the vibrant fabric of Barren County.

A Life Rich with Family and Memories

Born to the late Lawrence D. Coffey and Julia Elizabeth Cary Coffey, Juanita was proud of her Barren County heritage. She dedicates much of her life to her work and family, proudly retiring from Sumitomo, where she spent many years as a dedicated employee. But work was just one part of Juanita’s vibrant life.

Those closest to her knew her love for sewing and reading. Whether it was stitching quilts or diving into a good book, these hobbies brought her immense joy and relaxation throughout the years. Friends have shared how she would often create beautiful pieces with her sewing, a true testament to her artistic talent and patience.

Community Spirit and Family Love

Juanita’s faith was also an essential part of her life. She was a proud member of the Alvaton Church of Christ, where she nurtured her spiritual life and contributed to her community. Her family was everything to her, and she leaves behind two devoted sons, Greg and Todd Strange, both of whom reside in Bowling Green. Greg, along with his wife, Norma, and Todd, along with his wife, Lori, are carrying on her legacy of love and family values.

The hearts of Juanita’s three grandchildren are also heavy with loss today. Casey Strange, Jessie Flatt (and husband Payne), along with Connor Strange (and wife Misa), were all fortunate to experience their grandmother’s boundless love, creativity, and wisdom. The stories they share of family gatherings and warm hugs will continue to echo as they remember her fondly.

Cherished by Siblings and Extended Family

Juanita also had a close bond with her family, notably with her brother, Calvin Coffey, and his wife, Carol. The Coffey family shared countless memories and joys, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. Her passing leaves a void that will be felt not only by her immediate family but also by several nieces and nephews who hold cherished memories of their aunt close to their hearts.

Farewell and Remembrance

Juanita was predeceased by her dear siblings, including two brothers, Happy Coffey (and wife Louise) and “Shorty” Coffey, as well as two sisters, Wilma Hogue (and husband Rumsey) and her twin sister, Geneva Harvey (and husband Raymond). Though they have left this world, their bonds remain strong and intertwined in the beautiful quilt of family memories.

Funeral services for Juanita E. Strange are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them as they celebrate her incredible life. Burial will take place at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Prior to the service, visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, as well as from morning of the funeral Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause that reminds us of the importance of cherishing our loved ones while they are with us. Juanita’s spirit of love and creativity will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable journey.

As Bowling Green rallies together to honor Juanita’s memory, her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire generations to come.
