Bowling Green preps for the launch of the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour

Bowling Green, Ky to take on the 30th Anniversary of the Iconic Power Tour

From traditional rust buckets to modern roadsters, versatile jeeps to vintage jalopies, every kind of hot rod was in the limelight during the recently organized Holley Parking Lot Party. The event showcased a galore of performance modified cars in anticipation of the upcoming 30th annual Hot Rod Power Tour.

“These cars are not just for exhibition; they will be cruising around different cities each day,” said Bill Tichenor, the Corporate Director of Marketing for Holley. “We are simply inviting them to our warehouse and manufacturing facility here in town. We are offering tours, some prizes, and just having a great time.”

The Legacy of the Hot Rod Power Tour

The Hot Rod Power Tour initially came into existence with about twenty enthusiastic riders who embarked on a journey across the country. Over the years, the event increased in organization and popularity, attracting vintage car enthusiasts from different parts of the country.

“The planning for an event of this scale involving over 6,000 cars, many being vintage models, undeniably comes with its fair share of challenges,” said Mike Gallimi, the Hot Rod Network Director. “The logistics like hotel reservations, planning road trips, and ensuring spare parts availability for mechanical issues, everything needs a detailed strategy.”

Celebrating Bowling Green’s Auto Heritage

Even for those not particularly keen on cars, organizers still encourage participation, showcasing Bowling Green’s rich automotive history. “Bowling Green is a car town, its identification with the auto industry dates way back to the ’50s with the establishment of Beech Bend and Holley,” emphasized Tichenor. “The town has been hosting Corvette since 1981 and now boasts the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park and a road course, attesting to our identity as a car town.”

City officials have been working closely with organizers to ensure minimal traffic disruption due to the event. Nevertheless, local authorities advise adding extra commute time Monday and Tuesday as an estimated 15 to 20 thousand people may attend.

The Grand Kickoff

The grand kickoff is scheduled at Beech Bend Park on Monday, with cars departing from Beech Bend to Lebanon, Tennessee at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Tickets are available online, thus providing a chance for enthusiasts to witness this historic commemoration of the city’s car culture.
