Bowling Green Police Issue Warning on Pine Straw Scam
The police department of Bowling Green, a vibrant city in Kentucky, is alerting its residents about a new scam that’s making rounds in the area. According to an official communication from the department on social media, a group of scam artists is persuading homeowners to purchase pine straw for their landscaping needs at a substantially low estimated cost. However, once the work is finalized, the victims are handed an inflated bill running in thousands, exceeding the initial quote.
Expensive Surprise Post Completion
In a shocking instance, a homeowner was given an estimate of a little over $100 for a landscaping job. Unaware of the impending scam, the resident agreed. However, after completing the job, the group demanded a shocking $3,700 claiming it as the final bill for the services rendered. The unsuspecting residents find themselves cornered, forced to pay disproportionately hefty prices for a service they had agreed upon at a much lower estimate.
Scammers Identified
The scammers have been identified by the police as a group of three men, who can usually be seen in a white pickup truck pulling a screened-in trailer. The police department is urging residents to refrain from engaging in any business dealings with this group.
