BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A significant development for the mountain biking community has arrived in Bowling Green with the opening of the Hollow Riders trail at Phil Moore Park. This new trail marks the second dedicated mountain biking track in the Warren County Parks and Recreation system, providing local enthusiasts with more opportunities to ride.
The Hollow Riders trail is designed primarily for practice, offering a more open track compared to the existing Weldon Peete Park trail, which is focused more on racing events. According to the director of the Hollow Riders team, Scott Duvall, the addition of this trail is an essential step towards expanding outdoor activities for mountain bikers in the area.
Duvall highlighted the growing need for more trails in Warren County. “It’s important that we have more trails in Warren County,” he explained during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “There’s trails that are close by in Allen County and Barren County near Barren Lake… but it’s really important to have more trail opportunities here because people get off work, especially with our team. We practice at 5:30 or 6, so they need a place they can go and practice on their bike close by.”
The emphasis is clearly on increasing accessibility for local riders, allowing them to practice without needing to travel long distances. The team expressed hopes for more trails to come, as they envision a growing network of biking paths across the region.
Warren County Parks and Recreation Director, Chris Kummer, also voiced excitement about the new addition at Phil Moore Park. He stated that the development adds significant value to the recreational options available in the park. “This is a great addition to Phil Moore Park, and we would love to add more trails to Warren County Parks as well,” Kummer said. His enthusiasm reflects a broader vision for enhancing the recreational infrastructure in the area.
Mountain biking has become a popular pursuit for many residents, offering not just a physical workout but also a chance to enjoy the outdoors. The addition of the Hollow Riders trail is expected to attract both seasoned bikers and newcomers to the sport. Events, practice sessions, and informal gatherings can now take place in a welcoming and accessible environment.
This initiative also serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in local recreational projects. The Hollow Riders team, along with support from Warren County Parks and Recreation, symbolizes what can be achieved when local interests align with community needs. As the demand for outdoor activities rises, there is hope that local authorities will continue to invest in developing even more trails for residents and visitors alike.
As the new Hollow Riders trail officially opens, it stands not just as a track for practice but as part of a larger vision for outdoor activity in Bowling Green. Plans for future expansions of trails and parks are anticipated, reflecting the desires of a community eager to embrace outdoor recreation. The momentum built from this opening could inspire further development and improvements in facilities available for biking and other outdoor activities.
For local mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts, the opening of the Hollow Riders trail marks an exciting new chapter. As they begin to use the trail, it’s clear that more opportunities for engagement and recreation lie ahead in the horizon for Bowling Green.
