Bowling Green is mourning the loss of a cherished member of the community, Steven Allen Myers, who passed away peacefully on Saturday at the Colonial Center at the age of 72. His departure leaves a heartfelt void among family, friends, and all who knew him.
Born in Bowling Green to the late Gerald E. and Velma Katherine Simpson Myers, Steven was known for his warm spirit and genuine smile. He was predeceased by his sister, Dianna Lynn Frenck, a loss that deeply affected his family.
Having dedicated many years to serving the community, Steven retired from the Warren County Water District, where he was known for his skill and commitment to the job. He was not only a hardworking man but also a devoted member of the Rockfield United Methodist Church. His faith played a large role in his life, guiding him through challenges and uplifting him during happy moments.
Outside of work and church, Steven had a heart full of adventure. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, finding joy in activities like fishing and hunting, where he often spent his free days soaking in nature. Those quiet moments spent by the lake or in the woods were essential to who he was, connecting him deeply to the beauty of the world around him.
Steven leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Myers, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they raised a wonderful family that includes a daughter, LeAnn Freeman (T.J.), and a son, Phillip S. Myers (Becca). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Matthew Freeman, Lillian Freeman, Ellie Myers, and Wesley Myers, who were the apples of his eye.
He is also survived by his brother, Bunky Myers (Carolyn), his sister, Debbie Willoughby (David), and his brother-in-law, Wayne Frenck, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to come together for a Celebration of Steven’s Life on Wednesday, November 13. The service will kick off at 11:00 am, with visitation starting from 9:00 am until just before the service. This gathering will be held at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel, and it promises to be a moment to remember the man who meant so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Rockfield United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, a way to honor Steven’s memory and the values he cherished.
As Bowling Green reflects on the life of Steven Allen Myers, his spirit will continue to inspire those living in the area. A true family man and outdoors enthusiast, he leaves behind memories that will linger in the hearts of many. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones and community will be dearly missed.
