A Life Dedicated to Family and Friends

Brought into this world on August 21, 1969, Nell was the daughter of the late Billy and Ruby Jones Guess. Growing up in Bowling Green, she became a symbol of warmth and selflessness, always putting her family and friends first. She dedicated 39 wonderful years to her husband, Billy Cardwell, with whom she shared a deep bond and countless memories. They were partners in every way, supporting each other through thick and thin.

As a loving mother, Nell was proud of her two children, Scotty Leon Cardwell and Baily Gene Cardwell. She devoted herself to being there for them, ensuring they always felt loved and supported. Beyond her immediate family, she was also an adoring sister, aunt, and friend, leaving behind a close-knit circle of family that includes her siblings, Suzy Hammonds, who is mourning the loss of her late husband Ricky, and Leon Guess, along with his wife Betty. Nell also cherished several nieces, nephews, and special friends who will miss her dearly.

A Passion for Nature and Life

Outside of her family life, Nell had a wide array of interests that spoke to her gentle soul. She loved spending time in her garden, cultivating beautiful flowers that brightened her home and the homes of those around her. Her passion for nature extended to her love for horses and fishing, where she found joy and relaxation. Not to mention, her pets always received the utmost care and attention, reflecting her nurturing spirit.

A Final Farewell

Nell’s journey came to an end while at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky, a place where she received compassionate care in her final days. While her absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the hearts of many, her family has arranged for a farewell that reflects the love she so freely gave.

Funeral services for Nell will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and support each other during the visitation, which is set to begin at 10 a.m. until the service begins. Following the service, Nell will be laid to rest at the Archie Newman Wilson Cemetery, a peaceful spot where she can be remembered by loved ones.

As the community of Bowling Green reflects on the life of Nell Guess Cardwell, it is clear that her impact will be felt for generations to come. Her selfless nature, love for family, and dedication to her passions ingrained her deeply into the fabric of the community.
