Bowling Green Mourns the Loss of Karen Byrnes LeSieur

Bowling Green Bids Farewell to Karen Byrnes LeSieur

Bowling Green is mourning the loss of a cherished member of the community. Karen Byrnes LeSieur, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2024, surrounded by her children at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was 73 years old.

A Life Filled with Love and Dedication

Born and raised in Edmonson County, Karen touched the lives of many during her time on this earth. A proud graduate of Edmonson County High School, Karen completed her studies in 1970. Her career as a disability support specialist for the Best Center for Independent Living showcased her unwavering commitment to helping others. Karen’s compassion for those she served was evident in everything she did, and she was beloved by her colleagues and clients alike.

Family: The Heart of Karen’s Life

Family meant everything to Karen. She was the daughter of the late John Ronald “Jack” Byrnes and Zona Belle Ritter Byrnes. She found joy in being a mother to her three children: two daughters, Natalee Frie (married to Colin) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Briton Elmore (married to Kyle) of Smiths Grove, as well as a son, Jack LeSieur (partnered with Frank McClure) of Bowling Green. Her love for her children knew no bounds, and she often encouraged them to pursue their dreams passionately.

The Gift of Grandchildren

As a grandparent, Karen radiated joy and pride. She was a doting grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren: Caroline and Carson Frie, and Will, Maggie, and Molly Elmore. Each grandchild brought a spark of happiness to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Not to forget, Karen had a special bond with her granddog, Edie, who filled her days with laughter and love.

Remembering A Loving Sister

Though Karen has left us, she is survived by her sister, Maggie “Sue” Constant of Louisville, and many nieces and nephews who will surely remember her warm smile and kind heart. Karen was preceded in death by her three sisters, Doris Byrns, Betty Basham, and Mary “Bobby” Vincent, alongside her brother, Charles Byrnes. Together they are fondly remembered by loved ones who celebrate their lives.

A Chance to Celebrate Karen’s Life

A memorial service to honor Karen’s life is scheduled for Monday at 2:00 PM at Gravil Funeral Home. Visitors are welcomed to come and pay their respects beginning at 1:00 PM. This gathering is an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to share memories and celebrate the incredible life Karen lived.

Making a Difference in Her Memory

For those wishing to express their sympathy, the family suggests making a donation to the Bowling Green Humane Society located at 1925 Old Louisville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42101. Karen had a special love for animals, and her memory can live on through those who continue to care for lost and found pets in her community.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

As we gather to remember Karen Byrnes LeSieur, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, surrounded by the love of her family. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and dedication will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Rest in peace, Karen; you will be dearly missed.
