Bowling Green, Kentucky, Mourns the Loss of Pauletta June Basham

Pauletta June Basham, a beloved 91-year-old resident of Bowling Green, passed away on October 14, 2024, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The news has left the community reflecting on her life and contributions.

A Life Well-Lived

Born on May 5, 1933, in Barren County, Pauletta was the daughter of the late Paul R. and Mildred Gunnells Elmore. She was known affectionately as June to friends and family. June’s life was rich with experiences, having been married for 43 years to her late husband, Joe Basham, who preceded her in death.

Her family tree has deep roots, and her legacy continues with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a **dedicated mother and grandmother**, with a loving family that includes surviving grandchildren Barry Moore (and his wife Jamie), Jody Basham, and Josh Simpson (along with his wife Amy). Her great-grandchildren, who also cherish her memory, are Shelby, Riley, Huntley, J. Tucker, Brody, Abigail, Madison, Allison, and Zander.

A Passion for Family and Community

June was a long-standing member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she embraced her faith and built connections within the community. After a dedicated career as an assembly line inspector at Holley Carburetor, she retired, but her work as a nurturing family member never ceased.

Pauletta was known for her many hobbies, which included **gardening, quilting, and looking after her family**. These activities enriched her life and allowed her to share her love and creativity with those around her. Her garden was likely a source of beauty, just as her quilts provided warmth and comfort to her loved ones.

Shaped by Family Ties

In addition to her immediate family, Pauletta is survived by her siblings, including brothers Bobby ‘Buck’ Elmore (and his wife Sue), Paul David Elmore (with his wife Linda), and sister Joyce White. She was predeceased by her children, Paula Rust, Norman J. Basham, and Pam Stiles, as well as her grandsons Cody White and Jamie O. Basham. The loss of children and grandchildren demonstrates the weight of grief she faced throughout her life.

Memorial Services

Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects at the funeral services set for Tuesday, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. The services will take place at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel, providing a space for the community to gather and celebrate June’s life. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Fairview Cemetery #2.

As Bowling Green remembers Pauletta June Basham, her impact on her family and community is undoubtedly felt. Her passion for family, caring spirit, and love for life will remain in the hearts of those she touched.
