Bowling Green Preps For a Thrill-Filled Evening with Hollywood Stuntman and KY Native

Residents of Bowling Green are in for an extraordinary treat as they prepare to host their first ever Kentucky to the World (KTW) live event. The show stopper for the day is none other than Hollywood stuntman and Kentucky’s own, Tom O’Connell. The event, happening on Friday, September 27 at 5:30 P.M. at the WKU Innovation Campus HQ, features breathtaking live stunts and electrifying demonstrations. It’s a rare opportunity for the community to listen to engaging conversations with O’Connell, the man behind the iconic characters like Darth Vader and the Heavy Mandalorian.

O’Connell, originally from Louisville, is making his way back to his home turf after achieving big in Hollywood. Interestingly, O’Connell is not a film school graduate, but a holder of a degree in computer engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville who dreamt of working for NASA! His journey towards becoming a stuntman is nothing less than extraordinary and certainly inspiring.

The nonprofit organization, Kentucky to the World, is known for promoting and shining a light on the home-grown talents. Their live program is coming to Bowling Green for the first time, which is quite an exciting prospect for both the organizers and the visitors. Besides Louisville, this is another milestone for the organization in reaching out to the people across the state.

The event promises more than just a thrilling experience. It’s an opportunity for attendees to delve deep into various aspects of stunts, stagecraft, and on-screen combat, facilitated by interactive sessions with O’Connell himself. With tickets priced at only $25, the event welcomes everyone. However, particularly those of middle school age and up are encouraged to attend and be ‘edu-tained’!

For students from local middle schools till universities, the entry is free, thanks to the generous donors and sponsors of KTW. Teachers who are interested in getting their students to attend can make arrangements by dropping an email at tickets@kentuckytotheworld.org.

Adding to the excitement, KTW along with the Carol Martin Gatton Academy is organizing an exclusive session for students on September 26, a day before the main event. This session will give students a chance to interact closely with the stunt veteran, Tom O’Connell, a golden opportunity indeed.

Since its establishment in 2012, Kentucky to the World has been doing commendable work in elevating the cultural and intellectual reputation of Kentucky. They tell the world the untold stories of remarkable Kentuckians who have left their imprints on a global stage. As they venture into Bowling Green, they continue to highlight stories of extraordinary people like Tom O’Connell who prove, talent and passion know no boundaries.
