Bowling Green, KY – Over the weekend, Bowling Green East solidified their local dominance in Little League baseball by seizing the District 1 Major League title. The young squad asserted their staking claim to the title with an astounding show of 17-0 win against Logan County at Ephram White Park. What made it even more remarkable is the fact that they achieved this impressive scoreline in just four innings.
Throughout the tournament, East showcased consistent high-level plays, amassing a resounding 58-2 runs. Saturday’s game was no exception. A particularly notable performance came from Henry Phillips, who contributed three RBI’s and one home run. Jake Young, a formidable pitcher allowed only one hit in over three innings. Additional commendable performances included a two RBI’s each from Captain Carr, Asa Buchanan, and Brady Boyd.
After wrapping up the District championship, some of the team players expressed their excitement for their accomplishments and looked forward to the state championship. Young, one of the star players said, “Having more fun, playing with friends, having fun with friends and hopefully more winning.” Echoing his sentiment, Phillips who made quite an impact in the game added “We’ve been playing since we were like, seven, So, we really know everyone really good and have good chemistry.”
The team’s Head coach, Jef Goodnight shared his thoughts on the victory and future expectations, stating: “It’s very exciting. This is what Little League is about, especially in East Little League. We said we have a very good tradition and program, right? So, we set an expectation and to come through this tournament and do as well as we did. I think we gave up two runs for the entire tournament – pretty good. We have a very special team. They’ve played together for several years, and they just do the things they are asked and they work hard. This is the fruits of their labor.”
With the District 1 Major League title now under their belt, Bowling Green East is now setting its sights on the state championships. It’s an exciting journey ahead in the world of Little League that both the players and coaches are eagerly anticipating. For a team that has already demonstrated such exceptional talent and teamwork, the future looks bright.
