Known for his dedication to both medicine and music, Dr. Hinton’s contributions have touched countless lives. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Morgan’s and Crafton Funeral Homes before a final service and burial at Sulphur Spring Cemetery. His loving family and strong faith will ensure that his spirit continues to inspire others.
BOWLING GREEN – The community is grieving the loss of a beloved physician and talented musician, Dr. Carl Hinton, who passed away at the age of 70 on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Dr. Hinton’s legacy stretches across medicine and music, touching the lives of countless individuals during his time in service.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will take place on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 3 PM to 7 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, KY. Another opportunity for friends and family to gather will occur on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 3 PM to 7 PM at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin. A final visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, 2025, starting at 8 AM until the funeral service begins at 11 AM at Crafton Funeral Home. After the service, burial will follow at Sulphur Spring Cemetery.
Originally hailing from El Paso, Texas, Dr. Hinton was not only a dedicated physician but also a passionate musician who played in a Bluegrass Band from 1996 to 2004. His love for both fields showcased his vibrant personality and dedication towards helping others. Dr. Hinton started his medical journey by joining the Army, enrolling in medical school in 1979, and completing his internship and residency at the prestigious Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1988.
Leaving military service in 1996, Dr. Hinton transitioned into civilian medical practice, serving in Franklin from 1996 to 2002, and later in Princeton, KY until 2018. He then lent his expertise to Trigg County Hospital from 2017 until his retirement in 2021. Even after hanging up his scrubs, he continued to share his knowledge as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Bowling Green.
Dr. Hinton is survived by his lovely wife, Gail Hinton, who shared many meaningful years with him in Bowling Green. The couple raised a beautiful family, including children Luke Hinton (married to Kendall) in Westfield, Indiana; Danielle Hinton (married to Isaac) in Nashville, Tennessee; Robert Scott Lee (married to Kristie) in Oakland, Kentucky; and Hope Wade (married to Wayne) in Smiths Grove, Kentucky. Together, they gifted Dr. Hinton with ten grandchildren: Pax, Story, Maeve, Megan, Nakia, Ella, Kingston, Asher, Kara, and Hayden, along with a great-grandchild, Jasper Varner. This loving family will undoubtedly carry on his spirit and values.
Dr. Hinton was a man of strong faith and was known for his belief that “Jesus is the light of the world.” His connection to his church, Center Pointe Church in Bowling Green, reflects the impact he had on his community both as a healer and as a friend.
As friends and family gather to celebrate Dr. Hinton’s remarkable life, it is clear that his contributions as a physician and musician have left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. His commitment to service and his love for music will be fondly remembered by all who were touched by his kindness and skill.
