Attention Bowling Green folks! Your downtown area is getting into makeover mode. An area of unoccupied land staying idle for years is now all set to get a much-required spruce up. Situated along the Parking area of Stadium Park Plaza, the vacated lot is planned to have numerous advancements which are just the tip of the iceberg.
The proposed revamp is not just to add glitter to this space but also to provide amenities for the residents. The area, soon to be known as “The Fringe”, will get additional green space for visitors longing for a little nature touch while dining or spending time. The greening process will also include setting up of tables and umbrellas, creating a comfy space for folks to enjoy their meals. Additionally, a paved space for up to three food truck vendors is in the pipeline to boost the local food scene.
Here’s a more exciting piece of news: the spot will also facilitate its visitors with provisions for having open-container alcoholic drinks, albeit with certain rules hovering around the consumption part. And who’s going to manage the area after completion? The Development Authority will be its caretaker.
Previously, the land was supposed to house apartments and was under the ownership of SKY Property Management. But the sky didn’t turn blue for it due to unexpected obstacles like spike in costs and higher-than-usual interest rates. All that is past, and the Downtown Development Authority has now stepped in to fund the improvements. With donated materials and lower labor costs, the entire project is expected to be wrapped up under a budget of $100,000.
The groundwork has already begun the area is being leveled. The forthcoming weeks will be spent beautifying the vicinity further by adding turf and pavement. So, brace yourselves, Bowling Green community to experience a fresh face of your downtown area.
So folks, the next time when you’re sunning in the soon-to-be lush garden, savoring your favorite food truck bites, or sipping your favorite drink, don’t forget to raise a toast to the laminated Bowling Green city Heart!
And keep an eye out for construction vehicles, crews working, and potential road closures. As always, make sure you’re staying safe and respecting the crews’ space as they work on these fabulous upgrades.
We’re eagerly looking forward to the completion date, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest happenings in the downtown makeover saga of Bowling Green. Till then, stay tuned!
