Bowling Green Baseball Fans, Listen Up!

Great news for baseball fans in Bowling Green! Western Kentucky University’s baseball team has made some adjustments to their home series against Central Michigan, thanks to the chilly weather forecast. Rather than the usual schedule, you can look forward to a fantastic doubleheader on Friday, February 28, 2025, starting at 1 p.m. at Nick Denes Field. You won’t have to wait long for more action, as game two will kick off approximately 30 minutes after the first match wraps up. Isn’t that exciting?

After that doubleheader, come back out on Saturday to catch another game starting at 1 p.m. Then, just when you think the fun is over, the series finale will still take place on Sunday at the regular time of 1 p.m. So grab those mitts and get ready for some action-packed days of baseball!

Big News for Kentucky Students!

In addition to all the sports excitement, here’s a bright highlight for students in our state! Western Kentucky University is reaffirming its commitment to make transferring from community colleges easier. They’re working closely with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) to help students jump into four-year degrees with less hassle. This partnership has been spinning for over 14 years and brings a world of opportunities for students across Kentucky.

WKU is dedicated to making education accessible for everyone. Students transferring from any of the 16 KCTCS schools can snag automatic transfer scholarships worth up to $4,000. That’s money right in your pocket as you continue climbing your academic ladder! And for those wondering about help during this transition, the WKU Transfer Center has got your back with a wide range of support services designed just for this purpose.

Improving the Transfer Process

The strides this partnership has taken over the last couple of years are nothing short of impressive. In 2021, WKU teamed up with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and the National Association of System Heads to smooth out the transfer experience. New programs were introduced to enhance transfer advising, making it easier for students to register for classes after their move.

WKU offers over 200 degree programs, and more than 80 of those are available online. This makes earning your degree easier than ever, especially for students attending community colleges throughout Kentucky who may need a bit of flexibility in their education journey.

It’s important to note that around 14,000 KCTCS students take the leap each year to continue their education at four-year colleges and universities. To further support these transitions, WKU’s Housing & Residence Life has established living options specifically for students transferring from community colleges or even other universities. A fantastic way to ensure everyone feels right at home!

Getting Ready to Transfer?

If you’re a prospective student thinking about making a transfer, don’t hesitate to check out WKU’s website for all the details regarding transfer admission requirements. With dedicated academic advisors available to assist with credit evaluations and course selection, they’ll help ensure your transition is as seamless as possible.

So whether you’re planning to cheer on the Hilltoppers this February or taking the next step in your academic journey, there’s a lot happening in Bowling Green that you won’t want to miss!
