In the vibrant city of Bowling Green, a peculiar series of murals have been populating walls and sparking intrigue among locals and tourists. The overlarge apparitions featuring the one and only Bigfoot are, quite literally, making big strides in the city.
Over the past week, an intriguing scene has been unfolding, with six Bigfoot murals cropping up across the city. These impressive and artistic depictions of this legendary creature have been created by local artists and seem to have added an element of mystery to the already lively Bowling Green scene.
The murals were conceived and brought to life by six talented artists from the community – Alexis Erskine, Nellie Lutzwolf, David Jones, Shane Gerow, Jim Madison, and Andee Rudloff. Each one contributing their unique style to the metal silhouette of the legendary figure known as Bigfoot.
“It’s so fun. This has been a whole community art endeavor to celebrate the local artists we have in our community.” said Laura Beth Fox-Ezell, the executive program director for the Warren County Public Library.
As Fox-Ezell also indicated, these public installations are not just products of artistic creativity. They were part of an innovative community project, a prelude to “Bowling Green Bigfoot MiniCon”, which was held on Aug. 2 at the Capital Theatre. This event seemed to be a celebration of the community’s artists and their creative contributions.
The Bigfoot murals have been installed in multiple locations throughout Bowling Green. Each one waiting to be discovered and admired by interested strollers both young and old. You can bump into these intriguing murals at places like Lost River Cave, BG Skate Park, Phil Moore Park, Lisa Rice Library, Capital Alley, and Ephram White Park.
For those who are challenged by their spirit of adventure, the people behind the initiative have offered an interesting caveat. If you manage to take a photo of yourself in front of each mural, you could have won free access to the Bigfoot MiniCon. An interesting reward for those willing to embark on this mythical hunt, wouldn’t you agree?
While Bigfoot is often associated with mysterious forest sightings and elusive stories, it seems this time the creature has left the woodlands and made its way into the heart of Bowling Green’s community life. So what are you waiting for? Go explore the city, and who knows, you might just come across one of these magnificent murals and experience the excitement for yourself!
