Bowling Green School District Employees Receive Pay Increase

Pending Pay Increases for City School Employees Announced

Good news for employees of the Bowling Green Independent School District (BGISD). The district recently confirmed that it’s set to increase the pay for all staff members. The raise constitutes a 5% enhancement to current salaries, moving the financial needle for everyone, right from bus drivers to teachers.

A notable change is the starting pay for first-year teachers with a bachelor’s degree, which will now start at $45,000. Additionally, the minimum wage set by BGISD has been raised to $15.75 an hour. The superintendent expressed this sentiment during a recent interview, stating, “We want great teachers, but likewise, we want top-quality bus drivers, proficient cafeteria workers, and excellent school secretaries. With the new salary structure, we anticipate that we will be able to attract and retain the best and the brightest talents and continue to meet the community’s very high expectations.”

This pay raise marks the first time in the district’s history that a beginning teacher will start with a salary of $45,000, according to Fields. He further detailed that this kind of an upgrade in the salary structure is a change he hopes to be emblematic of future updates.
