BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A significant investigation is underway after a school counselor reported alarming allegations involving a 19-year-old man and an elementary school student. The events unfolded when the counselor informed the Bowling Green Police that a juvenile was reportedly engaged in a sexual relationship with the young adult.
The police initiated their investigation on August 28. Following the report, detectives quickly gathered information that the juvenile had been sending sexual videos to the suspect, identified as Sarbarst Yousif, through Snapchat. This alarming news prompted the Bowling Green Police to act swiftly to ensure the safety of the involved young people.
Detectives managed to reach out to Yousif at his residence. During the initial questioning, he denied any wrongdoing or inappropriate behavior with the juvenile. However, as the investigation developed, he eventually admitted to possessing videos and pictures that included the juvenile in sexually explicit situations. This admission raised serious concerns regarding the content he had and the involvement of other minors.
After granting permission to search his mobile device, detectives made a troubling discovery. They found sexually explicit material of another alleged minor: a 9th-grade student from Missouri. The investigators acted quickly to make contact with the second victim to confirm her identity and situation.
When police spoke with the 15-year-old victim, she revealed that Yousif had requested her to send sexually explicit photos, further expanding the scope of the investigation. This new evidence indicated that Yousif’s actions may have involved not just one but potentially multiple minors in inappropriate and disturbing ways.
In light of the findings, authorities arrested Sarbarst Yousif. He now faces serious charges including tampering with physical evidence, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and possession and procuring or promoting a minor by electronic means. These charges reflect the gravity of the situation and the potential implications for both Yousif and the victims involved.
Yousif was taken into custody and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail, where he awaits further legal action. The case is a stark reminder of the ongoing issues surrounding youth safety in the digital age, raising questions about the responsibilities of social media platforms and the importance of monitoring minors’ online interactions.
The Bowling Green community is understandably shaken by the allegations. Parents and guardians are urged to remain vigilant about their children’s online activities and to foster open communication about the potential dangers of sharing personal images and engaging with unfamiliar individuals online.
As the investigation continues, the authorities are focusing on ensuring the safety of all minors involved while seeking justice for the victims. The police department encourages anyone with additional information related to this case to come forward to assist in gathering crucial evidence.
