Bowling Green, Kentucky: Alex Miller Returns to His Roots

Bowling Green, Kentucky, has been buzzing with excitement as local country artist Alex Miller returns to his home state to film the music video for his new single, “She Makes Dirt Look Good.” Just three years ago, Miller charmed audiences during his audition on American Idol, where he expressed his aspirations to perform at the iconic Grand Ole Opry by saying, “Oo I don’t know, man, I’d die and go to heaven.” Now, he has not only lived out that dream by performing at the Opry but has also released albums, EPs, and toured across the nation, collaborating with various country music talents along the way.

Filming the Music Video

During the past week, Miller has dedicated his time to filming in Kentucky, with two days spent at Wright Implement, an agriculture dealership in Bowling Green. In the video, Miller’s love interest is portrayed by Nashville actress Ayla Demirci, who works at the dealership. Reflecting on his music, Miller stated, “If you’re not a farmer and you don’t come from a farm, my music is just country music. I don’t try to hide it, I don’t try to be anything other than what I am.” He added, “It’s just good, fun music, and some stuff makes you think too.”

On another day of filming, the crew captured scenes on a stunning farm in Hodgenville. Director Steve Kinney mentioned the use of drone technology to showcase the beauty of the setting, remarking that it was one of the most picturesque farms he had ever filmed. Kinney emphasized the importance of keeping the agricultural accuracy intact while filming, saying, “Wright Implement has been a big help to that.” Kinney also had high praise for Miller, describing him as “one of the most professional people” he has ever worked with, and expressing excitement about their collaborative projects.

A Musical Journey

Miller’s path in music began at the tender age of three. He fondly remembers working as a farmhand for his grandfather, a role that greatly influenced his music style. His transition into a full-time singing career started unexpectedly when the pandemic hit. With regular gigs like churches and nursing homes unavailable, his mother encouraged him to audition for American Idol when he was just 17. “I was on there with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Those were great judges, fantastic people to meet,” he shared. Miller’s journey on the show led him to Showstoppers Week, just one step away from entering the Top 24. However, his commitment to staying true to his country roots ultimately led to his departure from the competition when he felt pressured to perform pop music.

Staying Grounded

Despite the challenges, Miller has continually chased his dreams, performing across the country. He credits Hank Williams Jr. for sage advice that keeps him grounded: “Never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.” This advice resonates with him as he strives to forge his unique identity in the music industry. “There’s already been a lot of great musicians, but there needs to be a ‘you’ out there,” he explained. “You need to do what’s special to you and what makes you unique in the world.” Miller is proud to embrace his upbringing, proclaiming, “I don’t hide my hillbilly as I say, and I think that’s why I go so far and do so many cool things.”

Upcoming Release

Miller plans to release the music video for “She Makes Dirt Look Good” in mid-October. Fans can stay updated on his journey through various social media platforms including Spotify, Facebook, and TikTok. For more information, fans can visit his official website at alexmillercountry.com.
