Beloved Bowling Green Resident Allan Furlong Passes Away at 72
Bowling Green, KY – The community is mourning the loss of Allan Furlong, a cherished resident who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on December 8, 2024. He was 72 years old, and his legacy will be remembered fondly by all who heard his laughter and felt his warmth.
A Life Dedicated to Family and Faith
Born in Barren County, Allan was the beloved son of the late David and Laverne Smith Furlong. From a young age, he demonstrated a vibrant spirit and a strong work ethic, qualities that served him well throughout his life. After establishing a career as a service delivery manager for the retail giant, Walmart, Allan became known for his dedication and his exceptional ability to connect with both colleagues and customers alike.
Allan wasn’t just about work; he was an active member of the community. He was involved with Hillvue Heights Church, where he found joy and solace amongst a caring congregation. His faith was a cornerstone in his life, guiding him in raising his family and nurturing his friendships.
Family First
Survived by his devoted wife, Joni Furlong, Allan was a proud father to three sons: Chris Furlong (married to Robin), Kalan Brown (married to Crystal), and Eliah Furlong. He cherished each of them and worked hard to instill strong values and a love for family life. The bonds he formed will surely continue to thrive as his sons carry forward his teachings.
Allan will also be missed by his sister, Joyce Furlong, as well as his sister-in-law, Jessie Spencer, and brothers-in-law, Jerry and Marshall Cullom. The relationships he built extended far beyond blood, with several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Family gatherings were filled with joy and laughter, and his presence always lit up the room.
A Community Man
For many, Allan was also known for his adventurous spirit as a former member of the Rebels Motorcycle Club. He loved the thrill of the ride and the camaraderie shared among fellow bikers. Those late-night rides and weekend adventures will be cherished memories for those who rode alongside him.
Final Farewell
The community is invited to pay their respects and celebrate his life during the funeral service scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Before the service, there will be a visitation on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, allowing friends and family to unite in honoring Allan’s remarkable journey.
