Hey there, Bowling Green residents! We’ve got some important news to share about a project that aims to keep your homes and streets safer from flooding. We all remember the devastation caused by the tornadoes back in December 2021, and the city is stepping up to ensure that doesn’t happen again in areas affected by that natural disaster.
Open House Invitation!
This Thursday, November 14th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jennings Creek Elementary School library, there’s an open house where you can play a crucial part! The city is gathering information on flood zones, especially focusing on the area around Whispering Hills Boulevard. This isn’t just any meeting; it’s a chance for YOU, the community members, to lend a hand in shaping how we combat future floods.
What Do They Need?
Folks at the city are asking for your help! They want to collect photos or any evidence of flooding that has affected your neighborhood. These snapshots and your experiences are invaluable – they’ll help the city re-evaluate flood-prone areas and determine the best flood prevention strategies moving forward.
“The public can help us by showing us what that flooding actually looks like,” says Grants Coordinator Jake Moore. He emphasizes how the city will use the information you provide to model how flooding behaves in the area and enhance their flood management plans.
