Bowling Green, KY – A Fond Farewell to Thomas “Mickey” Kinser
On October 26, 2024, the Bowling Green community mourned the peaceful passing of Thomas “Mickey” Kinser at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Mickey Kinser, 83, was well-known in the area for his work in the heating and air industry, as well as his passion for farming, animals, and family.
Early Life and Career
Mickey was born on September 16, 1941, to Betty Lou and Edward Arnold Kinser. He spent his childhood in Bowling Green where he graduated from Richardsville High School. After high school, he pursued further education at the Western Area Vocational School, equipping himself with the skills that would set the foundation for his future career.
In 1961, Mickey opened Kinser’s Heating, Air, and Sheet Metal, a business that would serve the community for many years. His determination and hard work in his profession earned him respect and admiration from coworkers and customers alike.
A Life of Passion and Love
Alongside his successful career, Mickey was a passionate farmer and an animal lover. He was known for his kind heart and the way he treated both people and animals with consideration and care. Raised in the Methodist Church, Mickey found comfort in his faith and enjoyed listening to gospel music, which played a significant role in his life.
Mickey was married to his beloved wife, Ruenell, for an impressive 47 years. Together, they created a lifetime of cherished moments, exploring the world and enjoying horseback riding. The couple was particularly known for their delightful family gatherings, where they often hosted fish fries at the river, bringing families and friends together in laughter and joy.
Family and Legacy
Mickey Kinser was surrounded by love throughout his life, and he is survived by his wife Ruenell, along with their two daughters, Kim Propes (married to Anthony) and Jennifer Shuffett (married to J.D.). He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Andrea Nicole Kinser, Clayton Shuffett (married to Holly), Zachary Shuffett (married to Claire), Ryan Propes (married to Crystal), Dylan Propes, Samantha Detweiler (married to Lonnie), and Terry Mitchell Kinser. In addition to his grandchildren, Mickey leaves behind nine great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Sadly, Mickey was preceded in death by his father Edward, his mother Betty Lou, his brother Charles Gary Jr., and his son Thomas Shane Kinser. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who had a profound impact on everyone he met.
Memorial Service Information
The community is invited to pay their respects during the funeral service that will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. Mickey will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery following the service. Those wishing to extend their condolences may visit the family during the visitation from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society, a cause deeply meaningful to them, as a tribute to Mickey’s enduring spirit.
Mickey Kinser will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, love, and hard work will continue to inspire future generations.
