Bowling Green Community Mourns the Loss of Jim Young

BOWLING GREEN, KY – The community of Bowling Green is coming together to mourn the passing of 58-year-old James A. “Jim” Young, who died at his home on Wednesday, October 2. A lifelong Bowling Green resident, Jim’s life touched many as family, friends, and coworkers reflect on their memories of him during this difficult time.

Early Life and Education

Jim was born in Bowling Green to Alfred “Al” Young and Jimmie Hargis. His father has since passed, but his mother, Jimmie, is still alive and is one of the many family members left to carry on his memory. Jim is also remembered fondly by his step-mother, Linda May Young, who sadly passed before him. He was a proud member of the Warren East High School Class of 1983, where he graduated and prepared for a career that would showcase his skills and dedication.

A Career and a Family

Jim worked in Maintenance at the Bendix Corporation, a position that spoke to his hands-on abilities and determination to provide for his family. Among those who survive him is his son, Alfred Dylan Young, who resides in Dickson, TN, along with Dylan’s wife, Kaitlin. Jim’s family extends further with a step-daughter, Heather Burton, and her husband, Scott.

Siblings and Extended Family

Jim was not only a father but also a brother to Brent Young, who lives in Sugar Grove with his wife, Lisa, and Brian Young, who resides in Bowling Green with his spouse, Shondus. His sister, Jennifer Wimpee, along with her husband, Bobby, also lives in Bowling Green. The family bond is strong and continues through Jim’s many nephews and nieces, including Chad Young and his wife, Lindsey, and several others such as Seth Young, and Brittany Wyrick (and her husband Barry), among others.

Final Farewell

An opportunity for the community to pay their respects will occur during a visitation on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This will be followed by a Memorial Service starting at 1:00 pm at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Everyone who knew Jim is encouraged to come and celebrate his life and legacy.

A Loving Memory

As family and friends come together during this time of sorrow, they remember Jim not only for his work ethic and dedication but also for the love he shared with those around him. Jim leaves behind a legacy of connection, family, and comfort, which will not be forgotten by those who loved him.

During times like these, it becomes evident just how deeply a person can touch the lives of others. Bowling Green will remember Jim Young as many things—a friend, a family member, and a hardworking individual who embodied the spirit of their community.
