Thousands From Across the Globe Drive Into Beech Bend For Three-Day Classic Chevy Gathering
Bowling Green, KY – The peaceful streets of Bowling Green had quite the rumble these past days with the roar of iconic Chevrolet cars. The reason? Well, it’s the ninth annual Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals.
Now, if that’s not ringing any bells, allow us to set the scene. The Triple-Five Nationals is the biggest gig in the country dedicated to Chevrolet – and with over 3,000 specialized ’55, ’56, ’57 Chevys, it certainly earns that name.
The event is cooked up by nine hardworking folks from the American Tri-Five Association and Woody’s Hot Rodz from up in Indiana. But it’s not local-only. Far from it, actually. Fans and enthusiasts come from all corners of the globe, bringing with them a flair of international culture and a mutual appreciation for classic Chevys. Our shiny hoods and chrome bumpers were seen this year by car-lovers from as far away as Norway, Japan, Germany, Australia, and Canada.
Now, you might ask, why these particular Chevys? What’s magic in the ’55, ’56, ’57 models? Well, according to David Whelan, top salesman of the event, “these cars were so iconic – they were the first-ever V-8 production vehicle that Chevy whipped out. And with over 4.8 million of ’em made, these models have become a canvas for car lovers to personalize and really make their own.”
Car appreciation aside, the Tri-Five Nationals was about more than just engines and bodywork. The three-day fest was jam-packed with fun activities to keep everyone entertained. There was a fierce competition of drag racing, car shows parading some seriously jaw-dropping designs, an award ceremony recognizing the crème de la crème, and even some lucky giveaways.
And let’s not forget the good vibes. Thursday saw a lovely concert that managed to raise some money for our furry friends at the local Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society. The event organizers give a big thumbs up to the welcoming souls of Bowling Green, who have greeted troves of visitors into their town with open arms.
But just as the dust begins to settle on this year’s epic gathering, preparations are already afoot for the next one. In fact, the 2025 Tri-Five Nationals is already in the works! Yes, these guys take their Chevys seriously.
So, watch this space
The Triple-Five Nationals is an event that celebrates the spirit of car culture and local unity. So next year, whether you’re a Chevy enthusiast, a casual car fan, or just a local keen for a weekend of fun, mark your calendars. The 10th edition promises to be an even bigger spectacle.
