In the heart of Bowling Green, Kentucky, the National Corvette Museum is gearing up for a big bash. This isn’t your everyday car show, folks. This is a mega celebration marking the museum’s 30th anniversary, and they are doing it in real style.
The National Corvette Caravan, something that kicked off back when the museum first opened its doors in 1994, is set to happen again. Fun fact – we’re not just talking about a couple hundred cars joining in. Nope, we’re expecting thousands of Corvette owners and fans to hit the road and head for Bowling Green. They’ll start from all over the United States, eventually rolling into the museum together. We’re talkin’ people coming from as far as Washington State, California, and New England. And hey, not just folks from the US. Corvette enthusiasts from Canada, Australia, Europe – they’re all slated to join in the drive and party in Bowling Green!
Bryce Burklow, the museum’s Director of Events and Building Services, is super pumped for the turnout. “Pretty much anywhere in Bowling Green you’ll get to see them. When you have 8000 people and 4000 Corvettes, all the Interstates and Scottsville Road will be just filled with Corvettes as far as you can see,” he said.
As part of the celebration, the city is going Corvette-crazy too. The Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau is joining forces with the museum to let Corvette fans and locals alike know that it’s all about the iconic car for the weekend. They’re swapping out flags at the Beautifi-65 welcome sign installations with checkered flags. If that doesn’t give a warm welcome to the Corvette caravan rolling into town, we don’t know what will!
And that’s not all. You know what else screams celebration? A free concert. Yep, you heard that right. Generation Radio, a band featuring members from top bands like Rascal Flatts, Chicago, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, will be headlining a concert on August 31. The party will take place at Circus Square Park in downtown Bowling Green. The venue will open its gates at 5:30 pm, with opening acts at 6:30 pm, and Generation Radio getting on stage at 8:30 pm. And you don’t even need a ticket – the event is open to everyone. Just remember to bring your lawn chairs since seating won’t be provided. Plenty of food trucks will also be there to keep you fueled up.
Mark your calendars, folks because this sounds like an event not to miss. The National Corvette Caravan, an iconic event celebrating one of the most iconic cars – it doesn’t get much better than this. See you there!
